The MSC Malaysia InnoTech: Ideas Launchpad

The MSC Malaysia InnoTech Interstate, Penang 2009, held from the 25th – 26th March, saw a total of 141 technopreneurs registered as participants. A total of nine (9) companies pitched to a panel of five (5) local VCs during the Business Pitching session while `Elevator Pitch’ session was being simultaneously held in a different room. An invigorating `Speakers Corner’ session saw four (4) technopreneurs voiced their opinions freely on various issues, held during the tea break session at the lift lobby.   At the knowledge sharing session, five (5) enthusiastic speakers presented their ideas on top technology trends which covered areas such as; Web 2.0 and Enterprise 2.0 Applications, Collaborative Networking and Video Resume, among others. The two-day event brought together brilliant minds; to learn and unlearn through experiencing and sharing both Web 2.0 technologies and pitching skills. Set slightly in a different format and targeted at a smaller group, InnoTech Penang was a watershed event to change perceptions of the entrepreneurial community towards training, sharing of knowledge and experiencing, redefining core deliverables and expectations for all level of participants and stakeholders.  Participants came from diverse profiles and skill sets as well as from various fields and industries. This particular campaign localized the platform in other states other than Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley.  InnoTech Penang, covered the entire Northern Region and undertook developmental activities rather than pure funding accessibility.   Started with a thorough and well thought out set of communications designed to specifically reach the intended audience and hence, developed their expectations, each touch point of MSC Malaysia InnoTech Penang was implemented to sustain and enhance the interest of participants. Hands-on training for emerging Web 2.0 tools was enlightening to the participants while educating them on how to use various tools available in this emerging technology for both personal and business opportunity. Centred on social and environmental causes, the event shed light to fresh perspectives on using Web 2.0 tools for more practical purposes.
